Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme provided by the Hungarian Government

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme was launched in 2013 for foreign students after the announcement of the policy of "Global Opening" by the Hungarian Government. The aim of the programme is to promote cultural understanding, economic and political relations between Hungary and other countries. The scholarships entitles students for full time studies in Hungarian higher education institutions that are part of the programme.
The programme enables students to conduct full time studies as follows:
- BA/BSc (undergraduate – 3 years)
- MA/MSc (graduate – 2 years)
- PhD studies (doctoral – 3 years)

Computer Science BSc
General objectives of the programme
The Institute of Mathematics and Informatics offers a six-semester bachelor degree programme in Computer Science. Students in the programme will learn the principles of software design and development. Topics such as database management, design and analysis of algorithms, computer graphics and the fundamentals of artificial intelligence are also among the mandatory courses. The special focus of the degree programme is program development for mobiles. On completion of the programme successful students will be IT professionals who, possessing a solid theoretical grounding, are capable of implementing their skills in different areas. Graduates will be able to perform a variety of tasks relating to software development such as software engineering, software testing, web and mobile development, database design and computer networking.
Career Options: software engineering is one of the most in demand professional fields in Europe therefore there is a real need for competent and well trained specialists. The graduates will be able to work in application and web development, database design and management and design and maintenance of computer networks.

International Studies MA
General objectives of the programme
The Department of Political Science offers a four-semester master degree programme in International Relations with a focus on the relationship between global, regional and national ideas and policies of the world. The Programme discusses the fundamental theoretical and practical issues in international politics and diplomacy; it provides students with in-depth, contextual and interdisciplinary knowledge of these issues.

Two academic specialization are available in English:
• Transitology (if you are interested in studying about the political, economic and social transitions /regime changes/ happened in South Europe, in Latin-America, or in Central and Eastern Europe).
• European Studies: Equal Opportunities in Europe (an academic specialization for the students who are interested in the contemporary social and cultural processes of Europe as well as the issue of equal chances).

Gyöngyös Károly Róbert Campus

Business Administration and Management BA
General objectives of the programme
The objective of the programme is to train economists who, having acquired economic, social, applied economic, methodological and professional knowledge, are able to plan and analyse the processes of business organisations and institutions. Graduates will also be able to perform management, entrepreneurial and organising tasks. The Economics and Management BA provides comprehensive knowledge on the different areas of Economy (leadership, controlling, finance, taxation, logistics, corporate business). The practice oriented training means that the students can acquire the usage of systems used by the companies in their everyday operation as well as in strategic and operative level. The graduated students – based on the comprehensive knowledge and experiences – have excellent odds opportunities in the labour market either in the governmental or the private sector. The completion of their studies will enable our students to continue their studies in the higher education (MA level).

Tourism and Catering BA
General objectives of the programme
The Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences offers a seven-semester bachelor degree programme in Tourism and Catering. This programme focuses on tourism and hospitality education with the primary aim of broadening students' knowledge on the overall industry of tourism and hospitality, including its challenges and development possibilities. This programme helps students to understand tourism and hospitality by providing them with the basic concepts, knowledge and theories of the industry as well as related practical experiences.

 Agricultural Engineerig BSc
General objectives of the programme

The aim of the agricultural engineering programme is to provide future agricultural professionals with general expertise in the fields of agricultural production, processing and business management. Upon graduation they possess a comprehensive understanding of science, technology, agriculture and business, as well as reasonable professional judgement. They have the skills to pursue farming on their own, to produce and market competitive agricultural products, to establish and run a business and to analyse the commercial and economic processes relevant to agriculture.
Optional specializations: (1) Crop Production-Plant Protection, (2) Agro-environment Manager. The programme emphasizes hands-on expertise and the practicing of the various skills. With respect to the programme structure, sessions in laboratories, specially equipped classrooms and field practice comprise over 60% of the studies. Fields of study most relevant to the qualification to be obtained: (1) Study of the soil, tillage and land use, (2) Crop production, (3) Horticulture, (4) Animal husbandry and fodder, (5) Business management.

Viticulture and Oenology Engineering BSc
General objectives of the programme

The Bachelor of Science degree in Viticulture and Oenology Engineering provides graduates with practical and theoretical knowledge and skills for wine industry. Normally, the programme takes for seven semesters and covers all aspects of Viticulture and Viniculture. A strong practical background is provided during the course. Practical basics of vine growing and wine making are acquired in vineyards and wineries of the university. In the seventh semester students must take part in a long term practice in an enterprise. Theoretical background of vine growing and wine making is also provided during the course. The main subjects focus on grapevine biology, grape and wine making technology, vineyard management, grapevine protection, "terroir" studies, wine marketing, wine microbiology, wine chemistry and analysis, wine sensory evaluation. Graduates of this programme have become vineyard managers, grape growers, winemakers, cellar managers. Also, they have basics to take part in research projects, and they are prepared to progress to Masters level in Viticulture and Oenology.

 Business Development MA
General objectives of the programme
The Business Development MSc programme focuses on issues like business innovation and business financing, corporate strategies, management, operative challenges of running a business, socio-economic forecast, production and process management etc. After finishing their studies graduates will be able to establish, run and develop their own business or lead others as a manager in any business company. Present day tendencies show that SMEs and startups are more and more important factors in global economy affecting not only employment but incomes and GDP, too. These organizations can be the answers for challenges of youth unemployment, social problems and different types of innovation issues. Besides the entrepreneur mind, the entrepreneur mentality and attitude are needed by major corporations, even multinational companies, thanks to the intrapreneurship as a new trend. In this sense the size of company is irrelevant, business development is a „neverending story", a standard expectation and the only way to be successful in the market.

 Management and Leadership MA
General objectives of the programme

The management and leadership master's programme aims to train professionals for businesses and public sector organizations who have achieved a sound and integrated professional knowledge in specific areas of management. Graduates of this programme will acquire the knowledge of how to analyse, plan, and manage the workflow of private and public sector organizations. They are able to detect, analyse, and solve emerging problems by using the familiar categories of individual and organizational learning as well as utilising their innovative and creative thinking skills. They have adequate knowledge to continue their studies at PhD level.

Agricultural Engineering in Rural Development MSc
General objectives of the programme
The programme aims to train agricultural engineers in rural development capable of supervising production, distribution and regulation processes securing the optimal use of resources as well as organisation and management processes. They are also eligible to fill a position in the field of planning-development engineering, research and management as well as to continue their studies at PhD level.

Tourism Management MA
General objectives of the programme
The objective of the Tourism-Management programme is to train economists who, having acquired economic, social, management sciences, methodological and professional knowledge, are able to perform individual and comprehensive planning, management and coordination tasks on local, regional, national and international levels at tourism enterprises, multinational companies, in the administrative and planning systems of the state and local authorities, as well as in the non-profit sector. Their academic and research-methodological knowledge will enable them to continue their studies in PhD programmes in the field of Economics.
